Thanks for contacting us. There's currently some issues with the social aspects of Uplay PC (Inviting Friends, Messaging etc.) and are working towards resolving this issue. In game options, please set your group to 'open to friends'. Changing privacy settings to public allows friends to join directly from the overlay.
Merlin216 is correct, the servers are currently experiencing degradation at this time. The issue is known and under investigation. As the original issue posted, is not related to the current issue, with the servers despite being similar, I would advise creating a new thread or commenting on a more recent thread, if one already exists. - Ubisoft
Warning: co-op story progression doesn't transfer. If you're not the host, you keep your weapons armor and XP but you will have to replay every story mission and side quest you completed in co op for now reward and will not be able to fast travel to locations you have already been.
Far Cry 4 didn't let you do story missions in co-op, only outposts and side missions. If the host hadn't reached the second island yet in the story, there was no way to get there via co-op. Far Cry 5 will supposedly let you do story missions in co-op, but the progress will be saved to the host's game.

So, my friend and I are playing through Far Cry 5. So far we've encountered a few bugs and inconveniences (mainly for the one who joined), of which not all made it unplayable, but frustrating nonetheless. One thing we've found out now is, that apparently the lieutenant kill in co-op doesn't count for the perk-unlocks for the one who joined
However, players in a co-op session cannot travel too far from each other. Once a certain distance threshold is reached, the guest will automatically be teleported back to the host player.
